Accelerated Business Degrees Offer Year-Round Admissions

Are you excited to get started? You don’t even need to wait until the next semester starts. Many universities that offer accelerated business degrees have new start dates each month. That means you may start right now, this month.

Or you could start in October after the craziness of September has died down. Or March, when everybody else is thinking about spring break, you could start your degree. It’s up to you to decide the timing.

3 Ways to Accelerate Your Business Degree Even More

You’ve probably heard this saying:

“Work smarter, not harder.”

These three options to accelerate your business degree are the “work smarter” options. You are already working hard. Let’s give you options to maximize your hard work.

#1. Test Out of College Classes (Up to 1 Year)

You may take an exam instead of taking a class. Instead of attending a night class on economics that is dry and boring for no other reason than you already know all this material, you may just take the exam and get the credit.

Through the College Level Examination Program, you may register to earn up to 30 credits by taking exams in the courses you need, like economics, accounting, and business law.

Once you register for the exam online, you grab a study guide and read through it, then write the exam. All you have to do is pass. A score of 50% will give you credit for the course.

#2. Get College Credit for Your Life and Work Experience

Even better than testing out of classes is getting credit for your life and work experience. Typically, this is called Credit for Prior Learning, and you may earn credit from working in:

  • Administration
  • Aviation
  • Finance
  • Insurance
  • Law Enforcement
  • Management
  • Real Estate

Some universities, like Liberty University, may award you credit for your experience through a submitted portfolio. Another option is to check out the American Council on Education website. ACE recommends college credit for courses or training you may have completed through your workplace.

Either way, through submitting a portfolio or ACE recommended credits, you may get credit and you don’t attend class. You might shave off up to a whole semester.

#3. Stay Continuously Enrolled with the Max Course Load

Taking the maximum number of classes you can is the “work harder” part. Still smart, but this is hard work.

Instead of taking a few courses here and there, you go gangbuster. A typical student will typically earn 30 credits in one year. But if you take 18 credit hours every semester, fall, spring, and summer, you might have 54 credits in 12 months. You generally only need 120 for a bachelor’s degree.

Transferring Your Existing College Credits

If you have credit from an accredited college, it counts, and you may transfer that credit to another accredited college. Win-win.

For example, if you have already taken Microeconomics, Business Principles, and Financial Accounting (worth 9 credits total), you may transfer your credits to your new school. As long as you stayed awake in those classes and got a C.

The best-case scenario is you need those classes for your business degree. If not, the classes count as electives that you won’t need to take again.

Accelerated Business Degrees Can Help You Lower Tuition Costs

Although the cost of tuition for a degree you earn online can be similar to a traditional school, there may be ways for you to lower your tuition costs.

At one university, the tuition rate is $302 per credit hour. If you took a College Level Examination Program exam to test out of a class, you would spend around $89, plus possibly a small fee by the local testing center, to earn 3 credits. Compare that to $302 x 3 = $906 for a regular class. Doesn’t that make you want to take as many College Level Examination Program exams as possible?

You also don’t need to carry the financial burden of your degree all by yourself. Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to see what funding you qualify for. You may take advantage of grants or deferred-payment loans.

You also might qualify for private or university scholarships, as well as a work-study program. If you’re already working, your employer might have a tuition assistance program you can apply for.

Online Business Degree Accreditation

How do you know if you’re getting a high-quality education? If a trusted third party has verified the school’s business programs. How to get a business degree online? A business degree, whether online or campus-based, including MBA and DBA programs, can be earned at most regionally accredited colleges.

If you want to get the best of the best level of accreditation, you may be looking for a school accredited by one of these programmatic boards:

Accreditation from one of these boards will add prestige to the program, but as long as your school is accredited regionally, employers and other institutions will recognize your online business degree.
