You are not going to walk into these management jobs on your first day of work. Most management positions require a Bachelor’s degree AND at least 2 years of experience. So don’t wait! Let’s get started on that degree now so that you can start climbing the management ladder.
Accelerated Business Management Degree Programs Offer Year-Round Admissions
You know you need a business management degree, so don’t wait. Many universities, but in particular online schools, will offer you the option of starting your degree at any time of year.
Instead of having to wait for September you can make good use of the monthly start dates. This allows you to get a head start on your degree and start checking those classes off now.
You can practice your management skills by being the manager of your own degree and schedule.
Accelerated Business Management Degree Programs Online – Accelerated Classes vs. Self-Paced Classes
Starting your degree right away is your first step to finishing quicker. The second step is choosing which type of classes fits you best.
The 2 most common options available are:
- Accelerated classes
- Self-Paced classes
An accelerated class puts you in the position of having somebody else manage your schedule. Often a good option when you are first starting out. You have the accountability of a set start date, due dates for your assignments and regular check ins with your professor.
A self-paced class sets you up as your own manager. You register for a set time period but other than that you are completely in control of how many and what classes you complete. An excellent way to work if you are self-driven!
Option 1: Accelerated Online Business Management Classes
An accelerated class will give you the exact same education and appear the same on your transcript as a traditional class. But, instead of taking 16 weeks to finish the class, you will be done in 6-8 weeks. That is not just accelerated speed. That is turbo speed! The clever student will plan to take another class immediately after finishing the first, then you will be done 2 classes in the time frame of 1.
Option 2: Self-Paced Online Business Management Classes
Do you wish you could complete the class material in less than 8 weeks? You can!
There are universities that will offer you the option of enrolling in a self-paced or flex option semester. Typically there will be a one time fee of $2300 and you will be given an assigned time frame of 12-16 weeks. During that time you have access to the class material and you cover it as quickly as you can. You might have an exam to write at the end or a paper to submit as proof you have absorbed all the information you needed.
Business Management classes are highly information based, this style is a great fit for quick completion!
Types of Accelerated Business Management Degree Programs
Business Management degrees have many different names but all end up being essentially the same degree. It depends on where you want to go with your career which degree will fit your path best. You could be looking at:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management
- Bachelor’s of Science in Business Management
- Bachelor of Business Administration Specialization in Management
- Bachelor of Arts in Business Management
- Bachelor of Management Studies
These degrees all have a common focus on teaching you skills in planning, organizing, directing and controlling the functions of an organization. You can finish your degree confident in your ability to analyze data, delegate tasks, handle conflicts, hire new employees and make important daily decisions for the organization.
3 Ways to Accelerate Your Business Management Degree Even More
The way business is done is changing. You need to be prepared to move with the changes and be ready for anything. Taking 4-5 years to finish a degree is not innovative. That’s the old way.
A business management degree will take 180 college credits, but there are faster (and cheaper!) ways to earn a degree than sitting in class.
1. Test out of college classes (up to 1 year)
College credit is given in exchange for what you know. What if you already know what is being offered in the class?
If you can prove you have the knowledge, you can receive the credit. How you do this is a process called Credit by Exam. Most universities accept up to 30 credits that you earned by just taking the exam. The College Level Examination Program offers over 30+ classes that involve writing 90 multiple choice questions. In 2 hours you can earn 3 college credits for $85.
Even if you are not an expert in the subject, you can simply grab the study guide and cram. As long as you can get 50% of the questions, you will be granted the credit.
If you do 10 exams (each exam takes you 2 hours) for 3 credits each, in 20 hours you have the same amount of credits as a full year of attending classes. No joke!
2. Get college credit for your life and work experience
You can also get credit for work and life experience. Most universities will give you up to 15 credits through a program called Credit for Prior Learning.
How it works is that you contact your university and ask them what the process is for you to receive credit for previous life, work and military experience. Usually it involves you submitting a portfolio detailing your training, experience and credentials.
You can be granted credit for classes like:
- Intro to Business
- Intro to Management
This can even work for earning credit for your elective classes!
3. Stay continuously enrolled with max courseload
So you finished up 45 credits by Credit by Exam and submitting a Credit for Prior Learning but you still need 135 more credits. How are you going to get those credits?
Answer: As fast as possible.
The typical route is to take 15 credits in each fall and winter semester. You are still looking at 4.5 years to finish. That is a lot of your life to put on hold.
Consider this: most universities will allow you to max out your course load at 18 credits per semester. That is one extra class each fall and winter term. But if you also look at summer as a full credit semester, you can complete 54 credits in 12 months.
You see what this means?
In 2.5 years you can earn enough credit to be DONE your business management degree. That is twice as fast as what you were looking at originally.
Transferring Your Existing College Credits
Your degree path could be even faster if you have any pre-existing college credit. An AP class that you took in high school, an evening class you took in Composition. That credit is completely valid and you NEED to use it for your current degree. It saves you time and money.
Credit is good if it is:
- From an accredited college
- You earned a C (or higher) in the class
- It is one of your business management degree requirements
Even if the class you took earlier doesn’t technically fit into your new degree, this can still work. Every bachelor’s degree has a nice big space called “electives” and that class you took can fill one of those elective spaces quite nicely.
Lower Tuition Costs
One of the big responsibilities as a business manager is to analyze data and make a sound decision.
Here’s the data.
A business degree requires 180 college credits. At a school like Muskingum University you are looking at $873 per credit. That will end up costing you $157,200 in 6 years. Painful but true.
At Five Towns College you can get a business management degree with only 120 credits, save you some money there at $650 per credit. But still $78,040 in 4 years.
At American Intercontinental University, you will need 180 credits and the tuition rate is $302 per credit hour. So you are looking at $54,360 in 4 years. The least expensive option so far. BUT you can cut that number down even farther by testing out of 30 credits for $850. A value of $9060.
Then you submit a portfolio for credit for 15 credits. Costs you $1500 for a value of $4530.
These 2 tips can save you $11,240. Not to mention 3 semesters of class time.

Business Management Degree Accreditation
You might think that you could save even more money by looking into an online degree mill or non-accredited school. Please don’t. You will just give yourself a headache and be embarrassed at your first job interview when they call your degree out as a fake.
Accreditation is a nationally recognized stamp of approval that proves that although you completed your degree twice as fast, it is still legitimate. Many regional colleges have regional accreditation and that is enough to be valid.
But you can aim for a bit more prestige by applying to a college that is accredited by:
- Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)
- Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)
- Network of International Business Schools (NIBS)
- Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)
Don’t waste your time and money on a degree that will prove to be useless.
